Photos from the week: Skiing, Ice Skating and Games

Click here to see a few photos from this week.

1st Ski Day!!!

So we had lots of 1st time skiers today therefore lots of aching muscles this evening!! Once again this season Verbier was basking in sunshine and perfect blue skies, and the kids got stuck into getting to grips with everything that is skiing and snowboarding. All of the instructors came back saying there are great signs for the rest of the week so fingers crossed for more fantastic smiles at the end of each day! Tonight the kids will be going ice skating which should guarantee all sleep well ready for another action packed day tomorrow...

Hong Kong Invasion!!

Despite virtually no skiing, what a busy day at Les Elfes! We had not one, not two but three school arrivals on another beautiful day in Verbier! Today has been all about settling in, unpacking and getting all ski equipment for the coming week.

This afternoon the kids have walked in to Verbier centre to have a look around and getting used to their surroundings, then tonight will be quiet, spent relaxing, watching a movie, playing some games and getting ready for a great day tomorrow. Stay posted for all of the first day action photos tomorrow!!

Final day...

Well sadly the time has come for us to say goodbye to one of our schools, and send our other school on excursion before bidding them farewell tomorrow morning. Some of the kids got some final precious ski hours in this morning, having a last blast around the mountain. For the other kids they had a fantastic day visiting a chocolate factory and then walking around the historic Swiss town of Vevey. So parents we apologize if some kids return home laden with chocolate goodies!!   The instructors and staff have all had an incredible week and just hope the kids enjoyed it as much as we did. There was even some emotional speeches in prize giving, with some instructors telling the kids how rare it is to be able to enjoy skiing to such a high level with bright, fun students, while other instructors also spoke about how equally rare it is to take complete beginners to comfortable red run skiers in 5 days.

Race Day!!

What a great last full ski day we had today! After a fantastic disco night, always a highlight of the week, the kids were pumped up and ready for the weekly ski race in La Chaux. The condtions were perfect, with a firm groomed piste under bright blue skies. With such strong ski groups this week it didn't dissapoint, with several kids coming within one second of each other! The race was perfect for all groups, and the instructors have all delivered glowing praise of the progress made from the beginners. All have now skied red runs comfortably so should be extremely proud of their efforts. Tonight is prize giving then we sadly say goodbye to most kids on campus tomorrow, bidding a fond farewell with hopes of seeing them next year!  Check out the photos below!

Boys vs Girls plus a 4 Valleys Ski day!

With the sun shining and the pistes perfectly groomed, today was the day for our high level groups to ski further afield, some venturing as far as Thyon, right at the far side of the 4 Valleys ski area! It was quite an adventure and all the kids came back talking of the miles and miles that they skied!! For the rest of the groups it was a chance to continue improving and making the most of great ski conditions. There is no longer a single group that you could term "beginner" with the all groups now skiing red runs like professionals!  Check the photos below for some great action from last night's hotly contested boys vs girls compeition, where the girls left the boys extremely upset with a hard earned overall victory!

A mountain full of elves!

Well we had yet another day of perfect blue skies for the kids today, with Les Elfes groups all over the mountain, skiing around Verbier, the nursery slopes at Les Esserts and today also over on Savoleyres / La Tzoumaz for some groups to enjoy a change of scenery! There was what is always a special moment for instructors and the kids at lunch time when a beginners group progressed from the nursery slope to the main mountain for the very first time, skiing the afternoon in La Chaux. So there was much excited talk of riding the chairlift for the first time and truly enjoying the thrill of skiing! Take a look at the photos below! Tomorrow promises to be another great day, with some of the more advanced groups going further afield, venturing into the connecting 4 Valleys ski area. Stay tuned!

Evening Activities: Casino Night and La Fureur

Last night the various students at Les Elfes enjoyed our first Casino Night of the season.  Tonight we will be playing a musical game called La Fureur.  Click to read more about these fun activities.

1st Ski Day!

Once again this season the sun was shining on Verbier, with another beautiful and very cold Sunday. Our new arrivals from yesterday had their first taste of skiing, with all coming back with beaming smiles and tired legs! The instructors talked of great improvement in the beginner groups and some high performance skiing in the advanced groups, so all round a great day! Tomorrow we welcome another new school, meaning a busy, vibrant Les Elfes to compliment another fantastic weather forecast!

Arrivals!!

A beautiful sunny day today! Two big groups arrive today, one from Lausanne Switzerland and the other from far away Beijing  China! Some of the students skied as soon as they arrived and had a great day on the mountain, lunch in the mountain restaurants and a few of the groups skied the mighty Mt Fort! The group from China had a more relaxing day, arriving mid morning they checked into their rooms and after lunch went to the ice rink for some ice skating.  Our individuals from Brazil and Peru and other parts of the world chose their own ski groups today and skied with their friends, all in all a very busy day at Les Elfes! Tomorrow the school from China have their first ski day and we are all impressed with how enthusiastic they are and are sure they will have a fantastic week.
